1. Basic Components List
This section provides in one place a list of components that must be bought, off-the-shelf, or created from scratch for use with this website. Hopefully, existing and open-source products can be used to reduce overall site costs:
- Which cloud to use?
- Which cloud architecture is appropriate (Sun whitepaper)?
- Which database management system(s) to use?
- Which search engine(s) to use?
- Can different search engines be licensed, each of which has specialized properties? (Professionals page needs a ZIP-code search capability)
- Which shopping cart product to use?
- If not integral to these products, which security protocol software to use?
2. Site Schedule Graphic
The graphic below shows what THNC needs for its new website. The graphic may also reveal problems and weaknesses of planning done so far. The three-month intervals are flexible. Everything can change upon consultation with THNC's chosen website design and implementation vendor. We will work together to logically develop the planning for this site. What has been left out? What important concepts need to be added?
This list of intervals explains the columns shown in the graphic. Lower case letters in each column indicate priorities and order of feature completion ("a" is highest priority).
- 0 months = Website and database launch
- 3 months = Extended help screen introduction
- 6 months = Member introduction
- 9 months = Member features introduction
- 12 months = Extended member features introduction
- 15 months = Member organizations introduction
- 18 months = Extended member organization introduction
